The Longview Economic Development Corporation Brings on Industry Veteran Wayne Mansfield as President and Chief Executive Officer
July 11, 2016 (Longview, TX) - The Longview Economic Development Corporation (LEDCO) is pleased to welcome Wayne Mansfield as the organization's new President and Chief Executive Officer. Mansfield brings with him over 25 years of experience in economic development with a tremendous track record of success, most recently as Executive Director of the Vicksburg Warren County Port Commission which serves as the lead economic development agency for Vicksburg, Mississippi.
In his role as President of LEDCO, Mansfield will be responsible for developing and implementing economic strategies, identifying and advancing economic development opportunities for Longview, as well as fostering relationships and handling negotiations with incentive prospects. Mansfield will also focus on management of LEDCO's business parks and other LEDCO owned properties and oversee the day to day management of LEDCO operations.
LEDCO landed on Mansfield after an extensive search for a President who could effectively execute LEDCO's economic development focus. Mansfield's extensive network of site selectors, brokers and developers, his experience in developing, marketing, and managing industrial parks, his background in business retention and expansion for existing businesses and his significant experience in workforce development programs through community college initiatives make him a natural fit to implement LEDCO's vision for economic development.
Peggy Vaughan, Chairman of LEDCO's Board of Directors, said Mansfield's background marries perfectly with LEDCO's focus. "Wayne has an established reputation in the industry as someone who can identify and recruit companies into business parks that bring incremental primary jobs for the city and foster the expansion of local businesses, which are key components of LEDCO's vision moving forward."
"We cast a broad net when searching for LEDCO's leader," said Conner Cupit, Chair of the Selection Committee and LEDCO Vice Chairman. "Wayne's significant experience, skill set and track record in developing and implementing competitive economic development programs made him the ideal fit to lead the organization."
"I see tremendous potential for Longview in terms of economic development," said Mansfield. "The Board of Directors has a clear vision, and I am excited about working with them, the LEDCO team and working together with community leaders to support the creation of more jobs and more opportunities to bring new businesses to Longview."
Wayne Mansfield previously served as the Executive Director of the Vicksburg Warren County Port Commission which serves as the lead economic development agency for Vicksburg, Mississippi. Prior to his role as Executive Director, he was the Director of Planning and Community Development for Vicksburg and the Director of Planning and Development for the City of Southaven, Mississippi. Mansfield also held the role of City Planner for Tupelo, Mississippi. Mansfield begins his new role with LEDCO August 1, 2016.
