Longview Christian School has been educating students since 1982. A ministry of the Longview Christian Fellowship Church, classes for students in K-4–12 have been offered on the campus at 2101 West Marshall.
Serving over 160 students, LCS enjoys the strongest reputation academically of any Christian school in Longview and Gregg County. Student scores on the Stanford Achievement Test routinely exceed the national norm by an average of two grade levels.
The mission statement of Longview Christian School reflects her commitment to building strong families. It says, "Longview Christian School exists to assist Christian parents in the training of their children by creating a caring, Christian educational system that will develop leaders with both spiritual and academic excellence."
2. Academic Test Scores
LCS has scored 1.5 grade levels or more above the national average for the past 5 years. Test results from 2005-2006 showed LCS at 1.5 grade levels above the national average.
3. Accreditation
Longview Christian School is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools, International – the most prestigious private school accrediting association worldwide. Grades K–12 are fully accredited.
4. National Recognition
The LCS girls' volleyball team has been recognized as the 2003 and 2004 NACA National Volleyball Champions.
5. Teacher Salaries
Teachers at LCS are paid competitive salaries in comparison to other private schools in the region. While salaries are on a lower scale than public schools, professionals elect to join the faculty of LCS because of the "intangibles" available only on a Christian campus.
6. Instructional Expenditures
7. Expenditures for Library/Media Services
8. Class Size (Teacher-to-Student Ratio)
The teacher:student ratio is 1:12 school wide. Enrollment in a specific grade level is limited to 20 students.
9. Special Needs Programs
While LCS has no specific program targeting students with special learning needs, experience through the years has shown that the atmosphere on campus coupled with the interest and abilities of the faculty allow a student with learning challenges to excel when they make a personal commitment to learning.
10. Special Focus Areas
LCS focuses its curriculum on college preparatory classes. Majoring on the basics of math, science, English and social sciences allows our students to compete successfully with graduates of much larger schools. Rounding out the education with a fine arts program that includes drama, choir and band, while requiring two years of either French or Spanish, means that LCS graduates have the exposure necessary to excel in college.
11. Texas Global Scholars
LCS did not participate in the Texas Globe Scholars Program but 15 out of the 16 of our 2006 graduating seniors would qualify.
