Manufacturing
I think this is a wonderful opportunity to help get our young people interested in manufacturing. We live in what has become a services dominated economy, but our foundation still lies with manufacturing. By allowing students this scholarship we can ensure that the US, Texas in particular, will continue to produce great products. I personally have an interest in farming technology and hope that some of the students receiving this scholarship will focus on creating new and improved technologies for farming. We have had some improvements over the past decade: GPS tracking for our fields, better pesticides, higher yielding tractors and plows, and hypro pump technology just to name a few. I hope these improvements continue and I applaud your efforts to encourage students to pursue an education and career in manufacturing.
