Majoring on the basics of math, science, English and social sciences allows our students to compete successfully with graduates of much larger schools. Rounding out the education with a fine arts program that includes drama, choir and band, while requiring two years of either French or Spanish, means that LCS graduates have the exposure necessary to excel in college.
Oak Forest Montessori School
All activity is focused on the individual child and guided by a respect for the work of others, a respect for the teacher, and a respect for the materials themselves. Classes have children of mixed age groups together which permits the younger child a graded series of models for imitation and the older ones an opportunity to reinforce their own knowledge by helping the younger ones.
The teacher is a very keen observer of the individual interests and needs of each child. She is trained to recognize the periods of readiness and demonstrates individually the use of materials. She notes the progress of each child and keeps a record of work accomplished.
