At St. Mary's Catholic School, special emphasis is placed on the development and growth of the individual child: academically, morally, socially and spiritually. St. Mary's Catholic School instills a love for learning in a warm, caring environment, making students life-long learners.
Mission statement: St. Mary's school strives to develop faith-filled, responsible citizens for our global community by providing a quality Catholic education which emphasizes academic success, self discipline and moral training, in a caring Christian environment.

2. Academic Test Scores

St. Mary's uses a nationally normed assessment, the Stanford 10, to evaluate each student's achievement. Students consistently score in the above average stanines. The Standards of Intelligence (SOI) is used for evaluation of learning styles and modalities. The release TAKS and TEKS based assessments are used to evaluate and strengthen curriculum. The TPRI is also administered.

3. Accreditation

St. Mary's Catholic School is fully accredited by TEA and TCCED. Teachers are highly qualified and certified. Upper Elementary teachers are Advanced Placement certified.

4. National Recognition

National Junior Honor Society and National Catholic EducationAssociation, John Philip Sousa Band Recipients.

5. Teacher Salaries

Teachers at St. Mary's Catholic School are paid competitive salaries in comparison to other private schools in the region. Full employee insurance, social security, retirement contributions, and tuition benefits complete the package.

6. Instructional Expenditures

Approximately 65% of St. Mary's Budget is spent on programs, materials, and training that directly affect student learning. Our Quizdom computerized response program allows children to participate in a "high tech" game while learning. Flash Master computerized math curriculum integrates technology and math skills. Our staff receives technology training and certification on a monthly basis, as well as participation in Region VII and Diocese of Dallas training to be highly qualified in all content areas.

7. Expenditures for Library/Media Services

Our campus boasts a full adult reading library, young adolescent library, and an Early Childhood wing. State of the art projectors, ACER carts, and multimedia books are also available.

8. Class Size (Teacher-to-Student Ratio)

The teacher:student ration is 1:12 school wide.

9. Special Needs Programs

We offer modifications of core curriculum for accelerated learners.

10. Special Focus Areas

Religious Experience -- Religious instruction is the focal point of St. Mary's program and is highlighted by weekly mass. Students actively participate in praise and worship of God our Father through Jesus Christ His son by the power of the Holy Spirit. Students from other denominations are accepted for enrollment.

Physical Education and Athletics -- Our physical education program strives to develop coordination and confidence through various skill activities, and to nurture abilities for lifelong health and fitness. Students learn the importance of physical health and how to maintain discipline and sportsmanship through a variety of competitive athletic activities.

Fine Arts -- Students learn appreciation and develop creativity through St. Mary's visual and performing arts programs. The Music Program consists of voice, theory, and methodology. All students receive recorder instruction, and instrumental lessons are available. Additionally, students have the opportunity to perform in the Choir and with Band. The Art Program covers basic design, history, and offers hands-on experience at all levels through a variety of media. Students can earn high school credit for Art I .

Library -- The full-service, extensive library contains over 12,000 volumes, which serve as both resource and opportunity for students, teachers, and parents. The Internet access makes the research capabilities at St. Mary's virtually infinite.

Two state-of-the-art IBM computer labs and a computer in every classroom connected to our campus-wide computer network.

Gymnasium -- St. Mary's has the Monsignor Szapka Sports Center, a full gymnasium, complete with a basketball court, a running track, and a weight room; and acres of athletic fields for competitive teams in soccer and flag football.
