The Longview Economic Development Corporation (LEDCO) Board of Directors today voted to approve the acquisition of 1,165 acres in Longview’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction for the use of future industry recruitment and development.
Recent trends in economic development projects have shown an increase in the need for larger acreage sites. Because of this, LEDCO completed a comprehensive and exhaustive search for available property that would provide for Longview’s long-term growth.
In 2024, LEDCO’s strategic plan was adapted to include new target industries such as Semiconductor Manufacturing, Aviation and Aeronautics, Firearms and Ammunition and Data Centers, further eliciting the need for additional acreage to recruit these kinds of projects.
Planned use of the land includes the development of the new Bar-K Business Park, paving the way for LEDCO to competitively recruit new industry for the Longview and East Texas region and boosting job availability and economic growth for the region.
The property will feature direct frontage to US HWY 80 and is located approximately six miles from Interstate 20. The future Bar-K Business Park, with development planned to begin in late 2025, will become LEDCO’s third business park.
“The acquisition of this 1,165-acre site marks a monumental step forward for Longview’s economic future. This project, six years in the making, is a testament to the power of collaboration between LEDCO, the City of Longview, and our community partners. Each week, we miss opportunities for businesses eager to invest in our city simply because we lack the space to accommodate them. This new business park changes that reality. It positions Longview as a prime destination for industry and job creation, ensuring economic growth and prosperity for generations to come. We are excited to see the lasting impact this development will have on our community and the surrounding region.” Julie Woods, LEDCO Chairman of the Board
“Having a product of this magnitude will ensure Longview’s and the region’s growth for years to come. We are excited to present this incredible opportunity to companies and site selectors and we are excited for the opportunities this will bring to Longview.” Wayne Mansfield, LEDCO CEO/President
